Side Projects

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy dabbling in fun side projects and getting a chance to use my creativity in different ways!

Finding Inspiration and Designing

As a photographer, I take so many photos but never do much with them apart from posting on instagram. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic as I was trying to find hobbies to fill in my spare time I decided on making photo books as a means of capturing my travel memories in a thoughtful, but curated manner. As a gift, both to myself and loved ones that I’ve had the pleasure of travelling with, I wanted to create a memorable gift of our travels. I started out by browsing for hours on Pinterest trying to find inspiration for layouts and cover designs, before finally putting together my book using InDesign and a printing service called Blurb. As travelling opens up post-pandemic I now look forward to capturing more memories and finding a medium that helps me remember the trip, and maybe even dabbling in videography for fun.

One of my favourite things about printing my photo books is getting to share with others, how the world looks through my eyes. The vibrancy of the culture, my experiences and my memories of these travel destinations all captured in a curated collection of photos. The images are a reflection of how I remember the places that I visited and whom I visited it with.

Posters Designs

This all started with a photoshoot. I had done photos for a friend who commented that one of the images looked like it could have been on an Asian tv drama poster. I said “challenge accepted!” and then had a little too much fun photoshopping my friends and their favourite actors into imaginary posters. My goal is to take enough photos to make one poster for every drama trope I can think of.
